Drones have become a large part of search, rescue and surveillance in recent years - and I don’t see them going anywhere anytime soon.

  • Travel. Flight. Family. In no particular order!

  • In my position as Managing Director and Founder of AviAssist, I have helped enable many individuals to qualify as drone operators from our premises in Newcastle.

As the developer of one of the first commercial drone training courses to be recognised by the Civil Aviation Safety Authority (CASA), I continue to work with the regulator to enable the safe use of RPAS technology to its full capability.

  • The Aviation space is where my mind has always been and is where my mind continues to soar each day. I’m very lucky that such a wonderful hobby can also support me and my family. An expert in human factors, a commercial pilot of more than 17 years of experience, and an accomplished RPAS operator, I have a thorough understanding of the interplay between aviation knowledge, culture, and safety outcomes.

About me

Ross Anderson is the Founder and Managing Director of Aviassist, Australia's leading drone pilot training service.

A pioneer and innovator, with over 17-years of industry experience, Ross has a passion for helping other businesses soar through the use of remotely piloted aircraft systems.

Ross developed one of the first commercial drone training courses to be recognised by the industry regulatory CASA (Civil Aviation Safety Authority), and as a result, is seen as the authority in this field.

Through Aviassist, Ross has arguably enabled more operators in the RPAS space than any other individual.

Ross has a Bachelor of Science (Aviation) and a Diploma in Quality Assurance. Through Ross' continued work in space, he hopes to cement his position as the authority on drones and other remotely piloted aircraft systems, both across Australia and around the world.
